Just because they are done making them doesn’t mean they’ll all disappear and it will stop having a halo effect. All 400 (or however many it was) LaFerraris were sold before the first one was even delivered. Until another generation of hyper cars comes along the P1, LaFerrari, and 919 represent the top tier.

The passenger compartment is so narrow they couldn’t have done a 3 seat layout like the F1. A single center seat would be extremely interesting though...

Exactly right, there are only a few hundred people in the world that are going to spend $1 million+ on a car and they want the newest and best, so you are best off making them quick and not dragging it out. There is also a hint of the Ferrari sales strategy of not selling as many as you could so they stay exclusive

Power seats are quite heavy but definitely not that entire weight difference.

...Toyota won in 2014.

Anyone else bothered by the fact the “center” of the steering wheel isn’t actually centered?

I think that is actually a very elegant sweeping roof line, but they made it look kind of frumpy with the way the C pillar comes down so steeply instead of extending towards the rear of the car.

Most experts are projecting oil prices to stay low for at least a couple years. I’m not saying they are right but saying it is not possible or “we all know” gas will double in the next year is ridiculous.

Most of your points are valid and I’m not saying that I expect rampant deflation, just trying to explain why deflation would lead to consumers holding off according to basic economic theory.

I’m not saying there will be widespread deflation, I think current economic concerns are badly overblown actually. Just explaining why deflation in theory leads to people holding off.

The issue is when fuel prices drop so do the prices of basically everything because it is cheaper to transport good, cheaper to heat houses and stores, cheaper to generate electricity and keep the lights on. When everything is getting cheaper people will hold off on buying non-essentials. Yes people still need gas and

The Viper has 19" wheels. The brakes are 15.4"

Article says 20" wheels so either the wheel size is wrong or the brake size is wrong for sure.

Andrew gonna need to fact check the 19" brakes. If those wheels are 20" then those brakes are probably closer to 16" or less

I preferred the old format over this personally. It was much more natural and conversational, making it into a real debate. The talking heads format leads to prepared points and no debate. Just my 2 cents.

3rd: Super confused by this. Kia is building a sedan to compete with the 4 Series and the A5? What they mean to say is that they are building a sedan to compete with the 3 Series and the A4. Why do car companies refuse to admit that sedans and coupes are different things?

It is well documented that the money dried up for Maldonado. The Venezuelan economy is in shambles because of the fall of oil prices. It’s not a good look to pour tens of millions into F1 when you can barely keep the lights on.

It actually appears to be a pretty tall ratio. At low speed (less than 40-50 mph I think) it runs on electric only. Then the gas engine kicks in from there. So you’ll only get the engine to meaningfully high RPM at well over 100 mph.

Yeah they’re at the mercy of Takata for replacement airbags and they have to replace like 10+ million of these things, it’s gonna take a while for any of the companies to replace them all.
