The Incinerator's Lost Key

Dear Jillian,

I’m old. I’m so old that these loud florals in robes and caftans / mumus / housedresses were every where when I was a child. (We called them mumus.) Sure, it looks fine on Nicole Kidman, but my inner child is begging you to reconsider.

And if you do end up spending $180 on a robe, well, bless your heart.

I have to agree with Thug. It will always be up to us as a herd to exile the crazies.

For us to even test my theory, a prosecutor would have to put themselves in the line of fire of the crazies. Then secure guilty verdicts. Then deal with every basement dwelling Redditor that emerges to defend “free speech”.

I don’t see how we move forward as a country without bringing the Q crowd back from the edge of the cliff, and I’m all ears for ideas on how to do that.

I just want to rework this headline. A successful lady congresswoman shouldn’t need a mention of Trump / magats to be interesting.

I didn’t know I wanted my tears to taste like Pepsi, but now I do.

Thanks!

that children’s television peaked with Muppet Babies and will never be as good again.

Your tone regarding specific policies that you’ve deemed progressive says that you don’t support them and you’re not about to respect the people that do.

I have decided your opinions on this topic are pretty terrible and am moving on.

but unless they start moving to the Midwest and the South en masse, progressive policies will never gain traction at federal level.

So much this. This hot take has me like...

Ok. I read your statement three times. This is what I got from it...

If the base of the Democratic Party are made up of centrists / moderates it’s clearly for the optics. A base of centrists that don’t really want to disturb anything. They’d just rather coast on the achievements of prior generation’s progressive

Disclaimer: I’m not a comic fan, but my phone thinks I am and fills my newsfeed with comic news.

Its trying too hard to look like a weathered Mediterranean village.

I think this headline needs work. No one is going to care about the Melissa McCarthy angle.

Well played. Unfortunately, this will not land where it needs to.

The issue here is that the rise of the progressive wing of the Democrat party will have a similar effect on the party that the rise of the Tea Party had on the Republican Party.

Where do you think the power to get Biden elected came from? Thin air? Magic crystals? An armed coup? It came from the voters. There was a defined goal here. They had a clear cause to rally around. And the voters made it happen.

In the meantime, the DNC pumped goddess knows how much money into bullshit like Facebook

Strictly speaking about defund the police...

I agree that the rallying cry of defund the police gives one whiplash. The first time I heard it I was very uncomfortable with how simplistic it is.

Then I remembered the call to reform the police has been active as long as I can remember.

Wait, hold on, allow me to personally extend my general fuck you to members of this party that are demanding everybody else speak in code to you specifically.

I feel for your friends. Really, I do. As a white woman that grew up in the 80s, I am constantly bewildered by how far we have regressed culturally.

However!

The most disheartening thing for me in this particular spat (and so soon after an election victory) is the thought of the young people that were called to action by Bernie, the Squad, Warren, etc and now the party is collectively clutching its pearls.

They can call themselves a centrist, moderate, peacemaker,
