If you’re collecting information about the performance of your car while driving, you obviously need it plugged in while you’re driving. If all you need is to get the “check engine” code, yeah, don’t leave it plugged in.

I got into the update reboot loop last night. The registry profile entry appears to be added by nVidia. Deleted it and it worked.

The Bluetooth dongles also stay powered on when plugged in even after you turn the car off, I believe, drawing power from the car. Don’t leave it plugged in if the car is not in use for days, especially if your car battery is a little weak.
