No, definitely durian. I’m familiar with jackfruit. In fact I just saw half a side of jackfruit in the Asian supermarket yesterday for about $9. Was tempted but it is messy cleaning it, so sticky. Taste, smell, texture between the two are completely different. When jackfruit is creamy it is time to worry :)

You have a good point there. I’m not sure anything pairs well with durian, actually. And I actually enjoy eating durian in the very rare occasion I find a fresh Malaysian variety. The frozen Thai monthong are quite disappointing - no odor, no texture.

I’ve always dreamed of a variation of the California roll. Replace avocado with durian, use real crab meat (maybe from Chili crab?). Serve with a hot sauce and call it Singapore Roll.
