This is exactly my point. Why do we care so much how people identify themselves?

I understand what they’re doing and why they’re doing it. And just because I understand it, it doesn’t mean I find it any less horrific and absurd to assign someone a gender by mutilating them because someone needs to check a box on a bureaucratic government form.
