I believe it is the experienced 20+ year olds, who have related degrees, cars (to drive/pick up/ drop off your kids), 10+ years of experience and references who usually make these better wages. This is equivalent to sticking with any other trade and working your way up in a company.

So many employees getting paid low to min. wages do not care enough about their jobs because said jobs are replaceable and so are the employees.
