So sad that Honeyland was nominated for two awards and will get either. That was a great film. For those of you in Chicago, it is playing at the Music Box, go! 

Out of the movies nominated in their given years, I would have given the award to Roma and would give it to Parasite this year, but I do feel each countries awards should reflect that particular countries film culture. I feel it is a little odd for people to ask why are foreign language film aren’t better represented…

But it is Frankenstein’s monster on the cover, not Frankenstein, so checkmate.  

Not surprising his life reads very much like an adventure novel. 

Yeah, this idea seem to go directly at the idea that White is the default in Western Civilization and that Westerners of Color are somehow not heirs or part of its culture because of its European roots. In that way it is kind of really clever.

I feel like it should be point out that author of the Count of Monte Cristo is not white. Alexandre Dumas was the son of Thomas-Alexandre Dumas who was born in Haiti (than Saint-Domingue) and was mixed race. 

Side note, Chasten Buttigieg is a cute enough guy but those glasses kind of kind of make him look like college aged Judge Doom from Who Framed Roger Rabbit?

I was more like this stylish and kind of fun, but was mostly like it is a fine middle trier movie. I think my feeling on Tarantino films always depends on how my interest match up with his particular obsession in that film. I like Spaghetti Western and men on mission films so Inglorious Bastards works for me. 60's…

I am mixed on the movie, but I would give the Oscar for production design in minute.

That scene with Josephine Poszywak Hoffa in her car frozen over turn the key is masterful. I could see there being pressure to cut that down because it is not strictly necessary and it needs room to breath but it was worth it. 

He is great in second season of Fargo. I think is comedy chops help him in that show too. It is obviously not a sitcom and is fairly dramatic, but something about it’s rhythm and pace feel like a comedy. I think it is why they cast so many comedic actors.
