How do you feel about product placement?

I was going to mention the same thing. Plus, the consoles of the time didn't have as many limitations on publishing, which exacerbated the problems in terms of games' quality and volume.

But… but, touchscreens or something!

As a presumably healthy young adult, you should feel good, because life is a precious commodity, something that few of us will recognize until most of our years are behind us.

Luckily, the Kinect's track record suggests it won't be able to read lips until 2031 or so. No word yet on how it will handle logical paradoxes.

Ooh, ouch.

I was browsing the spotted hyena article and lions apparently tend to steal their food. Like, all the time. Kind of casts The Lion King in a different light, doesn't it? I guess that's what makes them the aristocracy!

You're like a phallic version of Beetlejuice. We should call you Penisj— Dikachu. We should continue to call you Dikachu and nothing else.

Volgarr has the same unforgiving "try it again, but better this time" attitude of Dark Souls, that's for sure. I've managed to get the first level down to an imperfect science; the second level refuses to stop pushing me into puddles and taking my lunch money.

If you've played Demon's Souls, Dark Souls shouldn't be a huge shock. It's got its differences, but the essentials (blocking, dodging, and general caution) are reasonably similar. Almost any halfway-decent setup can get you through the game as there's no drawback to leveling up, other than minor changes to online play

The Four Kings can feel like a DPS-gate, depending on how you play. If you let more than one spawn, you're on a slippery slope, so taking your time is not an option.

Ha, yeah. I actually had that experience with Solaire and the Gargoyles in the Undead Parish; I was trying to cut off the first one's tail, but nope! He got lightninged pretty quick.

I was sort-of worried this article was going to become What Are You Playing Every Other Weekend when it didn't go up last night. Glad to see that's not the case!

Upgrading weapons can be a bit obtuse without a guide; it wouldn't hurt to consult one of the wikis for more comprehensive information. There's also a discussion thread on the Steam group, if you want to ask more questions. We could always use some new blood!

FYI, ParaNorman was stop-motion, not CGI.

In hindsight, a high INT character might get the most mileage out of a magic weapon (which scales with INT) but I was thinking of low-level characters where the elemental damage outweighs the stat-scaling. I checked a wiki and a normal spear maxes at 200 damage before scaling on STR and DEX, whereas lightning maxes at

Close; it's fire and lightning, which tends to remove or reduce a weapon's stat scaling for extra elemental damage. The lightning spear found in Sen's Fortress is a good example.
