I think I, like most people who commented here, are unclear on exactly what this article is about. Surrogacy as therapy I have no problem with, but I shy away from the idea that access to another person sexually is or should ever be considered a human right.

Those "jobs" created will inevitably be filled by the poorest and most exploitable members of society.

I think he's brilliant. His characters are so absurd, it makes them all the more real.

As soon as everyone stops equating "thin" with beautiful.

I am a tea-drinker (I must have my cup of Earl Grey the way that coffee-people need their coffee), so I was a little freaked out when I read the headline. Then I read "100 tea bags a day", and realized that I will probably be alright.

Definitely a useful skill in that field! And that sounds like fascinating work. :)

There is no reasonable expectation of privacy for hecklers.

Totally valid. There's some evidence to suggest that most women see a broader range of colors than most men do for the same reasons. It's become a running joke nowadays, but at one time knowing the difference between mauve and burgundy was a useful skill. It could help you identify a plant that was tasty vs. a plant

No, I got it. It's funny.

Actually, women gathered most of the food. Men hunted, but only killed something rarely. Older generations and extended family mostly stayed home to watch the little ones while the mothers foraged and the fathers hunted. The division of labor was much more egalitarian.

Don't pretend men don't do the same thing.

I am at work, and I am weeping openly. I do not know what to say. There are no words.

Yes, and OMFG. In my opinion, something is very wrong with people who are that into dolls. Do you suppose it's born of some frustrated nurturing instinct that gets all twisted up?

Thank you!

I am a mother, and I hate it when people say "you don't know what you're talking about until/unless you have kids". It's sanctimonious bullshit. Having a child does not automatically make you a genius or turn you into some super-nurturer.

No, not anyone can. I'm divorced, with two children. I go to school full-time and also work. I would love the option to stay home and take care of my kids instead of working at a minimum-wage job so that I can barely afford to rent a one-room apartment that my children can come visit one day a week. Alas, not an

If it makes you feel any better, I also judge people who collect porcelain dolls for non-sexual purposes. Dolls are creepy.

I'm not a big fan of it either- but they haven't yet invented something that goes just as well with cookies, cake or fudge.

So allow companies to pay on a sliding scale, according to how economically depressed the worker's home country is? That is a terrible idea. It drives down wages here in the states and guarantees that workers from other countries will be treated as a permanent underclass.
