The Guy in the Third Row

For the sheer amount of 'Where is…?' from anime titles and the one Russian shoutout, I hate to say it, but you might have saved yourselves some hurt (not all, but some) by at least clarifying this list to western animation. Would be unfortunate for Bebop, EVA, and Vinni-Pukh, to be certain. But at as the list is now,

Wait a second, wasn't Bryan Singer the one being replaced on X3, not Vaughn?

Appropriately enough for this, the director of this did a HUGE face lift on Kick-Ass.
That comic was…it took a (relatively) novel, if somewhat well worn concept, started to run with it…then got lost in Millar asking "How much of a dick can I be to my characters?"

So bad it's good? Nah.
Though I will at least give it points. No other movie out there can say it had Will Smith and Kenneth Branagh firing crippled/racist quips at one another.

It also helped Verhoeven that Heinlein was dead for almost a decade when he made Starship Troopers as opposed to 50 Shades being made with the author onhand weighing in.

Based on the RT scores, about the most that can be said good for it right now is 'Well, more reviewers seemed to like this than they did Seventh Son or Jupiter Ascending'

Wait, that's still happening? I remember they announced it a while back and then just sort of fell off the planet.

Given Chris Cabin's likely going to have to review it for his job, I suspect at least he'll be commenting on it.

I am going to have to give it another read at some point (weirdest thing - didn't even know he was writing a novel till I was supply hunting for Halloween at a local Savers where someone had apparently donated a review copy before the book was out. Was a Hell of an experience finding that alone.)

You know, the sad part is there's a legitimately good horror story hiding within Twilight. I mean, if someone actually had retooled it to embrace all the elements people found disturbing, it could potentially be a Hell of a read. Sort of a mix of Near Dark and Blue Velvet.

I swear to God, as soon as a theater near here gets Maps to the Stars, I'm going.

I'd almost say Lars von Trier, but I suspect after Nymphomaniac he'd look at this go "Yeah? … And…?"

On the one hand, I see your case with point 2.

The Thing From Another World and The Invasion of the Body Snatchers.

NOOOOOOO AMERICA!
HEEHEEHEEHEEHEE!
*vanishes with a spring sound*

Which then segues into the theories that Iron Man 2 was Randian

"On second thought, let us not form our own sovereign nation.
It is a silly place…"

Got hit with both of those cliches. Also, while not history, I had an American Politics class in high school where the teacher showed us Bob Roberts.

In terms of Gyllenhaal roles, picture it directed at Lou Bloom from Nightcrawler.

I'm holding out for either Weird Al Yankovic's 'One More Minute' (yeah, it's done as a joke, but even as a joke, it's a pretty damn well done kiss-off) or Queen's 'Death on Two Legs (Dedicated To…)'
