I have a middle schooler who keeps bugging me to go to Vegas to take in magic shows and eat both of our weights at the buffets.

Atlantic City is so much worse. The veneer and the amount of other stuff to do makes a huge difference.
I’ve been to Vegas a number of times, with kids and without, and it’s a fine place. I wouldn’t go back to Atlantic City unless it was to help evacuate the city.
Warner Brothers is apparently going to absorb the DC Universe app in the near future, since people — shockingly — don’t want to pay for a separate WB app.
I am skeptical that NBC has a deep enough catalog that people will be willing to pay for their stuff as a separate channel. Renegotiate better rates with Netflix?…
I have to be in court professionally on a regular basis and, yeah, it’s Bad Decision Theater in there.
Atlantic City is horrifying.
You have “sell your shit for gold” shops literally across the street from casinos, most of which, last time I was there, only had windows facing the ocean, rather than toward the blocks full of shops catering to problem gamblers.
But the soullessness and despair gets soaked into the the…
I normally hate these “museums,” but this looks great.

Given that I share a name, hairstyle and mission statement with my 11th century ancestor, this seems completely legit.
In Austria at age 12, Temple of Doom (admittedly the most violent one) was off-limits to me and all my peers by the powers that be.
Pretty sure they’ve made that money back at this point. It seems silly to keep it a ride where everyone is kindly asked to not ask too many questions instead of making it something they can pitch as an attraction and draw people to a less-used end of the park. (Unless Star Wars Land is replacing that area, which I’m…
FINALLY, Walt’s frozen head lives again!
Monday after Thanksgiving used to be the best day to go as an adult, as all the kids are back in school then. Nowadays, though, it means the Christmas decoration overlay in place, so it’s not a “pure” Disneyland/Disney World experience, if you care. (I really don’t think much of the holiday theming they do, although I…
No, the animals are all on the ride and Zippity-Do-Da plays as you ride on it. It’s pretty weird, honestly. You have characters and music that Disney doesn’t make available for purchase or viewing in the United States as a key component of one of the rides.

Here’s the post you were responding to, in its entirety:
That is ... odd. But OK, carry on, Terrifics.
The conversation was literally about how sex is handled in American television and movies.
But yes, there’s still lots of sexism in other aspects of culture around the world.
Except they do it the other way around in the Old World. It’s a lot harder, as a European kid, to see a movie with violence (Indiana Jones was the equivalent of an R there) than it is with sex, which is treated -- believe it or not -- as a healthy and normal part of human existence.
I’m glad this book is a big success, but Phantom Girl needs to get back to the 31st Century already. DC’s been fucking around too long; it’s time to bring back the Legion.
You offer your organization’s point of view with facts and arguments.
“We disagree with the senator’s characterization; we think there’s a pressing national security need to do X. We appreciate that it looks bad — it looks bad to us, too — but that’s a reflection of the seriousness of the crisis we’re now facing.”
Asking for no particular reason: Is she hiring?
Twenty years ago, residents of the DC metro area basically chased the Walt Disney Corporation off, when they had an incredibly ill-advised idea to put a history-themed theme park (wrap your head around what that would entail) adjacent to historic sites.
The public’s only gotten more assertive with telling powerful…
