The original 'Bernard' was Arnold - the Dolores-Bernard scenes as Arnold and her talking. Bernard's inability to see certain things made him not see Bernard in the image of Ford and Arnold. The name at the bottom of his blueprint was obscured, and probably because it would read as Arnold.

And the hints that perhaps his brain patterns were modelled slightly off of the original co-creator.

It just felt like all the talk about how the backstories are key to programming the bots coming in the same episode as we find out how Bernard's backstory with his son drives him felt all a little to synced up.

So Bernard is a robot, right? This feels like what we're building to.
