Rob,
Rob,
I’ve been in the Porsche clubhouse before, 40 years ago with a third-hand 911E. I was your stereotypical Southern California bachelor dude with disposable income. Ah, the good old days. I’ve always liked the 944. To me it said, “You’re still a dude, but you know the meaning of ‘enough.’”
Thank you, thank you, THANK YOU for not making this a listicle. I even extend this to the Herb if he had a part in the decision. My faith in humanity has gotten a badly needed boost.
I’d probably call it the “worst” as well, but that’s on a scale of “Pretty great” to “Feckin’ Awesome.” 4th place in the race to the best 2-door convertible isn’t necessarily bad.
This is like marrying the most beautiful woman (or man; I don’t judge) in the world and then never having sex!
Its not even that rare of a car. The only thing that makes it uncommon was that a lot of the ones were destroyed years ago because they just dont do anything well compared to today’s cars. I can easily get a mid 2000's Camry for that price, that drives far better, is more useful, and has less miles and isnt stuck with…
Rob’s been cranking out NPOCP for years, only abated by well deserved vacations. Let’s not forget he has a full time job as well. Three cheers for the man who creates the first post many of us read every weekday.
Agreed - been my first internet stop @8am for years.
That dash! I forgot how amazing those 80's GM button dashboards were, I used to look in parking lots for the most button-filled cars. My dad’s Pontiac 6000 had the most of any car we owned.
A Toyota with any sort of character, not completely used up? That’s an easy Nice Price. I’ve paid more for less.
When the first-gen Mister Two rolled off the transporter at our dealership in the 80s, I promptly signed one out for DMV errands. It was a hoot. At 5'10" and 145 pounds of rawhide chew toy teenager, it fit me like a glove.
Adjustable air suspension + 11 years old = Brave Sir Robbin running away as fast as his coconuts can carry him.
I was almost onboard, ready to hit the NP button.. and then I got to the interior pic.. oh gawd
Presumably, based on your post, it would need to be under $1795 to qualify as “sub 2k”?
It’s hard to understand why they would make cooling systems that disintegrate.
It’s a clean RWD straight 6 wagon. NP
Oh don’t worry, I wasn’t about to offer full KBB value.
It’s the last attractive Acura, and in spite of its front wheel drive it performs very well, but in the end it’s just a 13-year-old Honda with a stick. The last time I got a manual Honda I paid less than half of that.
