In 2007 the Syracuse Orange went 24-11, 10-6 in the Big East, which was the premier basketball conference at the time. They were rewarded with a trip to the NIT.
With that I will consistently argue against mediocre big conference schools getting in. It’s possible that 9 of 10 Big 12 teams get in. That’s incredibly stupid. Somehow Alabama (18-14) has over a 99% chance to get in. The committee wants to justify sending a hundred god damn teams from the ACC.
As a Cuse fan I’d rather see a team like MTSU get in for reasons you and I agree with the OP on.
Fuck it. Just send every team in a major conference to the dance. Get rid of the little guys and mid-majors. Who cares.

Cuse fan here. I miss hating Pitt. There’s a comradery I feel with them with the switch to ACC (not with Louisville though, they can get fucked in an Italian restaurant). It really stinks that they’re so bad. And yes, those matchups were the best. I miss the Big East.
