I’ve been changing my username on and off for the past few months because I wasn’t sure of it, and I changed back to the one that is the same as my tumblr name.

I’m curious, do you genuinely think that people should avoid critique of any black celebrity? Because it really seems like you think that way.
I like this pic, and I have nothing to say about the picture & why people would say that it’s “gross.” That’s really weird to me.
This isn’t about the pic, and you’re going to tell me again that I am criticizing her for being black, but what kind of message do you think it really gives out, when celebrities like Beyonce preach about empowerment and turn around to work with a rapist photographer or sing for a dictator (which she has done,…
I mean pulling money out of your wallet and shoving it in their face is considered quite rude in any culture but many places are OK with tips in the envelope. I know a lot of “facts” are posted on the interweb about all these “Asian customs” but it’s not always the generalized truth.
Um... I travel to Japan quite often because my best friend lives there, and this is not really the generalized truth. Are you Japanese? If not, I don’t see why you would speak with such authority about the cultural norms that you don’t really know about.
OH so if I hated barbie as a kid and didn’t stick to your idea of what girls must like, then I’m trans. Logic?
You think that there are “boy things” and “girl things” fundamentally, and such should never cross over to the point where you called it “abuse.” That is sexism. You don’t think THAT’s extreme, but calling it abuse isn’t? Let me guess, you’ve never been abused.
Yeah, that’s not true. (I’m born and raised in Korea)
I think people like to paint her as this clueless, “young” person (never mind she is close to 30, that is not THAT young anymore, although still young) instead of someone who is shrewdly controlling PR, and I think such infantilization is even more problematic than anything. She is very much in the vein of Lena…
(I saw your point about him not necessarily being anti-blm, but I don’t necessarily agree)
I agree with pretty much all of your points except now it kind of seems like you’re trying to gloss over Kanye’s overt, gross sexism and misogyny because he has said political things before, especially when he’s anti-BLM.
Just nitpicking, but I think since you are also advocating for a society that moves beyond gender stereotyping, I don’t think words like “tomboy” really reinforce that point you try to make. I definitely agree with what you say though.
Here comes another good ol “men and women are fundamentally different” biological essentialist. 1) Not all men and women identify as cisgendered 2) When they are young the “fundamental” biological differences are not so obvious that they need differently “gendered” clothes all the time 3) just because you have…
Whenever I try to tip in Korea or Japan in hotels they either 1) refuse and say it’s not necessary or 2) gasp and say that it was very nice of me haha
Not to mention the insane vanity sizing in “women’s clothing” currently.... Men’s S is like a woman’s L/XL in some brands.
Totally agreed that we need a different labeling because I actually don’t love the tight crotch cut in typical “women’s” clothing.
Yeah, you said that like 5 times on this thread. The thing is that we as a society are trying to evolve beyond biological essentialism and traditional “gender” definitions. It’s clearly not about you and your son’s truck. It’s kind of odd to me because it seems like you either feel “relieved” that he likes traditional…
It’s weird, though, how you don’t realize statements like “boys are boys and girls are girls” and dividing that there are “girl things” and “boy things” at all are problematic. Why not just say that children can like whatever.
To be fair, when I was 12 yo, a lot of my male friends had bigger breasts/chests than I did. Not everyone develops what people think how “girls develop.”
