A lot is mindset and leadership, I agree. The military has rules and people mostly follow them, and they have support and structure. But the real secret is they are not concerned with efficiency or productivity, because they have a blank check and don’t get fired for missing profit targets, so they CAN do things the

Having worked with the Innocence Project in the past - you can question nearly all forensic ‘science’. Either the science done i.e. how the evidence was collected, stored, moved. Or that the science is even a fact.

But do they? From the article:

Police chief in my small city of 60k makes $325k per year. Most of the regular cops are pulling in $120k. They make upwards of $200k at the end of their career (in their mid 50s), then spend the last 3 years working a shit ton of OT so that there pensions are inflated based on those last few years of total pay. Then

“You know, one day honest citizens are going to stand up to you crooked cops!”

The fucking thumbnails. I don’t even get past those, so I don’t watch majority of the videos. I don’t know what happened in the past 5-6 years, but the thumbnails have gotten out of hand. Every single one of them has a stupid click bait title and an idiotic, punchable face. And not a single of these videos actually

Is there really anything to figure out though? In many or even most things, it’s not the technology that’s the problem, it’s the money and the will.

Let his idiotic EO’s come out and end up in court for years. He’ll likely be gone (or gone early with his unhealthy angry self) before they actually get implemented

Jacking up the prices on cars hardly anyone wants to buy anymore in the first place is a bold strategy, Cotton... let’s see if it pays off for them.

For the mathphobes — a 25% price increase on $50K car puts it at $62.5K, which is bonkers.  I’d think that’s unattainable for at least ~50% of the population. So then watch used car prices jump by at least 20% due to massive demand. So then watch car thefts increase accordingly, and Uber/Lyft prices going up, etc.

I think it’s more correct to say that a reckless asshole making a very stupid decision to play with a drone in the vicinity of firefighting air traffic is really what led to the collision

That’s it!

The people that tell you that DEI is discrimination against white people are the same who will tell you that affirmative action is discrimination against white people and is reverse racism against whites. Disgruntled white people are angry that they have to compete for jobs against people who don’t look like them on

I am not a fancy expert on how the government works, but some random, made-up department can’t unilaterally make budgetary changes, correct?  Doesn’t the House still control the purse strings, as the old saying goes?  Which isn’t to say the House wouldn’t go along with this, given its current makeup, but still.

I dunno, crypto seems to benefit some people. Especially if you’re a thief.

This week I have received over half a dozen calls on my work phone from an AI powered call center looking to update our company info for a trade magazine.

I’m sure it’s worth it to have a chatbot that lies to you about basic facts.

Not content to simply poison the online world, they also have to destroy the offline.

AI and crypto mining are destroying the world while providing no meaningful benefit to society. Gotta love it.
