Yep! There seems to be no rhyme or reason to whom doctors will prescribe to. Super weird.

I'm talking people who go to a different ER every couple days demanding pain meds. But yes, you're right. Essentially I'm mostly commenting on how some docs seem more apt to prescribe than others.

That's why I think it's ridiculous. Because people are ridiculous.

Yikes! Just a month or so ago there was a double homicide in Nashville that was allegedly heroin-related.

That seems like a ridiculous metric for success.

Then sometimes, as I mentioned to another person somewhere in this thread, they won’t give people anything. Even when the patient is for real injured. It seems like there are no guidelines and it makes no sense!

I've also noticed that. It seems like the doctors either throw them out like candy or never ever give them at all for any reason ever.

I'm an interpreter, and when I respond to ER calls, I'm always surprised how quickly doctors will write scripts for serious pain meds, even if the patient is exhibiting what I would think was drug seeking behavior.

That makes sense. It just didn't even cross my mind that so many people were using! I guess it just goes to show that I live in a sort of bubble where I'm insulated from a lot of that stuff.

I live in TN and have been pretty surprised to find out that heroin is such a big thing around here. I'm not sure why, I guess I just figured the drug of choice would be meth? Anyway, it turns out we have a huge heroin problem.
