Hawkey is the one 100% safe actually. If they killed him in this film, he would have substantial presense in it, not abscent from every trailer and even the poster.

I think it was trying to shoehorn in a left field romance that had to real impact to the story and that felt way off character.

Maybe it’s how they present the developing camaraderie/loyalty between her and Cap, but the Russo Bros seem to do better with Black Widow than Whedon ever did.

I don’t know about that. About 50 seconds into the trailer there’s a scene with Shuri looking at a holographic projection of Vision’s head. If anyone can remove the stone safely, I’d bet on her.
