The observed effect could be due, at least in part, to the way the questions were asked. There’s not enough detail—here or in the Wall St. Journal—to find out. The way a question is framed could cause people to think more about the “bad” than the “good.”

Well, 10x is still (obviously) hyperbole.

Note that ‘gregoryw’ said “...in San Francisco or New York.” Everything costs 10 times as much in those overpriced, overpopulated cities.

Ah, the ‘marketing vs. sales pitch’ debate.

I’ve never seen a 128 GB SSD (even if it is an external SSD, rather than one you can install in your computer) for that low—$30 is an excellent deal for that device!

Rec’d just for your name.

I put an SSD in an ASUS Flip (this version, in fact) and it made my computer run much, MUCH faster! And I paid $60 for a 128 GB—this Samsung 850 is a much lower cost per GB. That’s good deal, particularly if you use a lot of space!

I think there’s an app for that...

Well, you’re partially right—but it would be better to be either the first or the last candidate, due to the primacy effect and the recency effect, which has been quite well-studied.

This.

The “should” vs “could” part is excellent! Well-done!

Don’t worry; we’re all susceptible to this. It’s in our nature. :)

Problem is, nothing really means much without comparison.

This is exactly why almost all “self-made” wealthy people spend less than they earn and don’t live glamorously!

Great point—you can never get to where you want to be, if you don’t know where you’re going!

Good advice!
