This is a great thing to point out, to keep people from getting discouraged! Thanks for sharing!

And that’s probably because you left the ‘rate of withdrawal’ setting to higher than 1%—meaning that you’ll be dipping into the principal of your investment, and therefore not ‘financially independent’ according to Mr. Money Mustache’s rules. If you violate this rule, you get the 9999 and a notification about this

Thank you for this article! I’m so tired of hearing other people in their 20s worry about not eating foods with sugar (or gluten, or whatever the demon du jour is) because it’s bad for them...

Sadly, that’s way too common. And worse, a lot of people think that’s normal and see nothing wrong with it...

Well-said! It’s all about maintaining the proper mindset, and committing to spend less than you earn—even if that means cutting way back during difficult times. A lot of people don’t like to hear that, but your money doesn’t really care...

That’s the best laugh I’ve had in two weeks! Thanks for that! :)

There are a variety of good headphones available for even less than this! They might not be quite as good as the M50x, but they'll be fairly close—and for under $50!

I suppose it depends on what has changed, and how important those things are to you. For example, the new Mustang looks totally different—maybe you like the look of the new car better! That's not something that can easily be changed.

This is good advice—I recommend doing this, and I am a car guy. Get something you like used (so someone else takes the biggest depreciation hit), and you'll have the money left over to upgrade the things you want (if you want).

Wow, that Crucial 960 GB SSD is an excellent deal—$300 is a bargain for that much solid-state storage capacity! If you're going from the mechanical hard drive [most computers come with one of these] to a solid-state drive, everything about your computer will feel faster—and you'll never want to go back!

That's a good deal for sure! The C720 is a nice machine!

Yep, Aldi is a good place to save money by buying off-brand stuff (that tastes exactly like the name-brand stuff). I've gone to dedicated grocery stores in my area, as well as stores like Walmart and even Big Lots (for dry food)—Aldi's prices almost always match or undercut the competitors' prices for the same size

This is for Dr. Nerdlove and The Sad One:

Good deal on the Samsung SSD! If you're paying less than $0.50/GB on an SSD or flash drive, it's probably a good deal!

Perhaps I'm barking up the wrong tree posting this here, but I believe that people would be better served by buying a device upfront and going with a no-contract monthly 'plan.'

Well-said on the headlight restoration kit! Dealerships always charge too much to service cars...as soon as the warranty expires, find a knowledgeable local mechanic and take your car there for future problems. You'll pay less, and probably get better-quality work done.

Wise moves; especially not paying for a new car: talk about a bad investment! Getting a used one that's a couple years old but in very good condition is almost like buying new—but without taking the depreciation hit! And considering how much cars cost, that amounts to thousands...

Alan, this is a good explanation of frugality! I tackled the issue in an article I wrote six months ago, when a friend told me how his $10 Walmart shoes needed to be replaced after only a month (and his feet constantly hurt as well)!

Good advice—sounds like the Millionaire Mindset! Practice living on less than you earn, and you'll watch your wealth grow (it may help to make a game of it...that way you'll be more likely to stick with it)
