The Crucial SSDs represent a great deal! I recommend Crucial and PNY in my post on bargain computers. I think SSDs represent a good price-to-performance ratio, and if you use your computer's old hard drive for backup storage, then you've managed to increase both speed AND storage capacity!

Absolutely do your own thinking; don't rely on a company's marketing to tell you where to find the cheapest stuff! Wal-Mart did a good job of basically doing the same thing—advertising the cheapest prices around, and then charging more for some stuff. I discuss this here: http://froogalstoodent.blogspot.com/2014/05/the

That "you scored a deal" bit is right on point! Retailers sometimes jack up prices, then put the item "on sale" for the price they originally wanted! It's a trick that plays on our psychology to get us to spend more. I talk about this issue, and how to overcome it, here: http://froogalstoodent.blogspot.com/2014/05/how-

Great post with important points! I liked the "focus on the future" tip in particular. That's a good approach to finance (though not necessarily to other aspects of life!)

Cute, but not a good habit to get into! As those with the Millionaire Mindset (http://froogalstoodent.blogspot.com/2014/05/the-mi…) know, establishing good habits is critical to success! Hopefully this cute little girl establishes a more productive way to deal with adversity! :)

Yep, saving is a critical part of maintaining financial health! The wealthy understand this, and the more you save, the better off you'll be! $50/month is no big deal for most income brackets, and many people can—and should—save a lot more than that per month!

It does. I'm a Ph.D. student and I don't have most of that stuff, nor do I need it.

Generally speaking, I prefer to use a computer, for just about anything (especially those Google searches. I HATE typing on a phone keyboard). But this list is otherwise a totally reasonable list of things that phones can do well, particularly reminders.

This is an interesting idea, though calling it "stupid mistakes" may be counterproductive for some people.

Problem is, the Saints don't suck. So although these articles are funny, they're funnier when they apply to teams that are actually bad.

...but the Broncos don't suck. Thus, this article (though funny) is moot.

Student loans can be nightmarishly expensive! Here's how to think about that loan before signing on the dotted line, in case you decide not to volunteer with an organization like SponsorChange or Public Service Loan Forgiveness program or AmeriCorps: http://froogalstoodent.blogspot.com/2014/07/a-new-…
