There’s a bit of ambiguity in the phrasing, but I think it’s just an analogy, not a statement of cause and effect: “He was being shitty, like Pete Campbell” not “You can tell he’s shitty because he created Pete Campbell.”

Eh, I kinda get it. Sometimes, that shit just looks good. Like, “daaaamn, Chef Boyardee killed it with the plating. Look at this, world.” It’s not like plating and overall meal aesthetics aren’t an important part of the dining experience.
