Bioware makes everything better. I'd watch a Bioware-developed Star Wars trilogy without shame.

The "streamlining" had less to do with replacing the Mako and more to do with erasing the RPG content in preference of more third-person shooter elements. Bioware let EA's big fat check turn Mass Effect into Gears of War.
