I’ve liked Holden, wanted to shake him until his head popped off his neck, and kind of circled back to understanding him again over the years. Nowadays I think of him as a very well done version of a time of life--very much of his time and place but also channeling the way a person in late teenhood starts grasping

Franny and Zooey is in my top five of a very long list of favorite books of all time. I think that book and the Glass family writings from Raise High the Roofbeams, Carpenter and Nine Stories are collectively one of the best explorations of quiet grief that I have read. Even Catcher in the Rye becomes bearable and

I agree. Catcher never did anything for me at all but I loved Franny and Zooey and still go back to some of Nine Stories a few times a year

I still love Nine Stories. I often think of Teddy, with his big head and slender neck and Esmé and Seymour Glass, his beach vacation gone wrong.

as well as a story about Sylvia Welter, a member of the Gestapo who was married to J.D. Salinger from 1945-47,

I’ve never been interested enough to read any of his other stories

I can’t wait for “Hollywoo Stars and Celebrities: What Do They Know? Do They Know Things?? Let’s Find Out!” the book.

I KNOW, RIGHT? PLEASE GIVE ME MORE GLASS FAMILY CONTENT. I could use a good think and a good cry.

Who could have anticipated news THIS GOOD??

there will be more work that follows the Glass family.

At its essence, the song is one person being totally stoked about something and not noticing the other person is genuinely miserable. So it fits.

I don't hate Astin, but he's a little too bro-ish looking to pull off Greg--like the snarkiness is just his shtick rather than a genuine character trait and defense mechanism. I doesn't help that Austin's looks remind me of Dane Cook's.

Kudos to the show for highlighting the symptoms of a heart attack in women. I believe the more well-known chest pains and left arm pain combo are more common in men.

My favorite ep of the season so far. I liked all of the songs and they felt central to the story and characters, unlike a few of the songs from earlier episodes this season. I was getting a little frustrated that previous episodes hadn’t dealt with Rebecca’s mental health progress, so it was good to see it all unravel.

This episode is probably the first episode where Greg actually felt like Greg. Skyler Astin plays him way too happy and it just doesn’t fit. Also Rebecca should have asked Josh or Daryl to go to the water park with her instead. They would have actually enjoyed it.

Hey, they might be able to get him for a one time thing like this, at least that's the hope I'm holding onto

The first 3 episodes of the series all had really great musical sequences, but I think “Settle for Me” was the moment I knew I was watching something truly fantastic.

My favorite’s either “Hey, West Covina” or the Irish Drinking Song. Both of which probably won’t be sung on this special without Santino Fontana!

I’m surprised the show didn’t take a beat to discuss the moral ramifications of erasing Simone’s memory. Everyone’s had their memory erased again and again, but it was supposed to be a BAD THING. To do that to Simone erases her agency as a character, but everyone simply accepts it as the best thing to do when Judge

This episode made my girlfriend cry as hard as she does as when she dreams about her childhood dog.
