OH it is certainly MUCH higher now. WHen I went, the cost per point (credit) was somewhere in the $500 range. I just looked. It will be $1,795 for the upcoming academic year.  

I remember when I was an undergraduate at NYU in the 90s. My roomie got a fedex envelope from his dad. I think I asked what was in it and he casually said “this semester’s tuition.” I was in shock. It was a check for multiple thousands of dollars ($15? 20? 25? thousand? I can’t remember how much a semester cost back…

You are right. In my opinion, there is going to be a shakeout in higher education and it is going to be brutal. It is all being driven by the secular decline of the America as the world economy shifts towards the east. The only thing that can save us now is the internal instability of China.

I am a bit flabbergasted at some of these comments. I am sure that some of these very people remember when democrats did it in 2003 and 2011. I also distinctly remember many commenters complaining that Democrats DIDN’T resort to these tactics since 2011 in order to stymie legislation that they didn’t like.

I didn’t think of that! I mean I did know that they provide money for flights back to the US but I never thought about coming back to stay with my mother in the US. The only problem is that she turned 79 this year. Time is running out for her living alone. I don’t know. . .  But you have to do what you have to do.

The whole system is a raw deal and is not sustainable in the long run. When I got out, I was going to give myself two years to get a full time job. No adjuncting. Failing that, I was bailing on academia entirely.

The only thing in our statement that I would change is: “taking nudes of themselves will MIGHT or COULD LIKELY lead to trouble.”
