Oculus had some good stuff, but it pissed me off precisely because it set up all those rules and didn't do much with them as of, like, ten minutes later. The mirror seems to get powered-up like an anime protagonist between the "past" and "present" storylines.
Stacker Pentecost.
It's also worth noting, if you don't think that The Horse was a good performance, that he completely ingratiated himself into Charlotte's family for two months by acting exactly like The Horse.
BoJack is full of characters who might not be great artists, but they're good craftsmen and can achieve a sort of transcendence with the right setup. Sextina Aquafina, Mr. PeanutButter as a game show host, BoJack as The Horse, Sarah Lynne as Sabrina, Diane as a ghostwriter of famous horses, Kelsey as a director of…
My top five so far (non-pressure-cooker thriller division):
My two favorite Satan figures, although you can argue whether either of them really qualifies: Simon Hurt, from Grant Morrison's Batman; and the Judge from Blood Meridian.
Fraction struck such a good balance with Tony Stark. Bendis… did that "awesome facial hair bros" joke in two separate issues.
I like Unbeatable Squirrel Girl as much as everyone, but I don't want it to become a blueprint.
I loved that Living Weapon series!
I should give Cowboy Bebop another chance. I had to stop after that friggin' kid got introduced, since he annoyed me so much.
The only anime I can say I enjoy unreservedly. I've rewatched it more than any other TV in the past few years.
Thank you! Comments sections are for nerds anyway.
Serious question: is there another site that does good episode-by-episode commentary on Adventure Time? The show deserves it.
Teach the controversy:
As much as I enjoy some good genre trash (Rothfuss <3 <3 <3) now and then, I don't think anyone would accuse the contemporary fantasy novel of being a vibrant, experimental, relevant form.
I always feel compelled to jump in on these Lord of the Rings dogpiles that accrue on the Internet: the Lord of the Rings is the best fantasy story ever written, I tore through a reread of the trilogy last year, it made me cry in multiple points, and Eowyn is a better character in the books.
I was just talking about this with friends: Fury should have replaced Zemo (who sucked) in the "villain" role in Civil War. Nick Fury in the shadows, manipulating events, and then revealing himself in the third act. There are a million ways you could do it; he's trying to set up his own super soldier program, or he's…
IS BOX PRINCE REALLY DEAD THOUGH
We did Furious 7 at the drive-in. We spent the whole Dubai scene screaming about how Paul Waker was going to do 9/11; when he finally did 9/11, that was one of the most memorable moments of my 2015.
