Word is he couldn't deal with all the media attention. The material didn't bother him but the crazy fans did. Guy had to hire bodyguards after his casting announcement.

I just misunderstood your meaning. But regardless, I've seen a lot of people get angry at white folks when they talk about black issues. I'll give another example, the actress throw Greys's Anatomy has a black husband and a black child, she made comments about how the Emmys were very white and not at all diverse. I

Oh, Emily.

The author isn't arguing that white people are appropriating braids. She's saying it's not cool to talk about braids without talking about black women's experiences with regards to them (how cornrows etc are often perceived in a negative way by mainstream culture.)

That second one is absolutely hideous.

We're at a pretty weird place in terms of talking about this kind of thing. If white women don't talk about black experiences they're "myopic" or racist. If they do talk about black experiences they're stealing black women's stories (eg. the flack Peggy McIntosh got for writing about white privilege.) I dunno. It's

I'm sure you noticed I used the ambiguous term "excess fat" rather than BMI. That was quite purposeful. I'm not interested in telling anyone what they should weigh. I've been obese myself though and I am interested in telling being they can feel better and that losing fat doesn't have to be miserable. I'm not quite up

Nope. You can always tell parents, siblings, other friends etc about the issue, then step back and stay out of it. Pass the buck. Trying to get someone help doesn't mean you're in it for the long haul. You'd call an ambulance if you saw someone get hit by a car, right? Doesn't mean you go to the emergency room and all

You will increase your mobility if you lose weight. It isn't too late. And you don't need to exercise to lose weight either. Counting and restricting calories works well, among other methods. Reddit's r/LoseIt board is a wonderfully supportive and helpful community if you want to give it a shot.

Is there scientific validity to the idea that having more fat cells makes it harder to lose weight or did you just hypothesize? I've had zero trouble losing weight, anecdotally.

lol. How the fuck do you define "role play"? Why can't it be both manipulative/abusive and suicidal ideation? You can be pissed and say "fuck, maybe I should be a bigger person and see if I can get them help" at the same time. Is that just too difficult for you to comprehend? Don't you think it's absurd that you think

I'm pretty sure you're the one who doesn't understand what the term means- suicidal thoughts, plain and simple. Role playing is widely accepted as suicidal ideation. Regardless, I'm much more comfortable erring on the side of caution when it comes to public humiliation and mental illness.

The funny thing to me is, if you told people they had to carry around a sack of flour in equal weight to the excess fat on their body all day every day they would look at you like you were fucking nuts. But that's what we do all the time if we have excess fat on our bodies. It's the same damn thing.

Word. And there's always a thread like this one full of gifs and 'If one person says something about 'calories in calories out' ermagerd!!' To me, it sounds just like someone claiming the earth is flat and the sun revolves it. It may not be quite that simple, but barring severe underlying health issues we all have

So, if the premise of the article is right and your body has a harder time making new fat cells as you get older, it's almost a good thing. If I do gain back the weight I'll already have the necessary fat cells to keep me 'healthy.' There's no reason to get lipo at all.

Because everyone wants to believe they are a statistically special snowflake.

If you're going to be scientifically honest, wouldn't you have to say that some studies say there is no added risk to being fat while others (like this one) say the opposite? I know that people want to believe what they want to believe. But when it comes right down to it, there is no single answer to any of it.

I'm almost completely science illiterate. But, I was a 'healthy' obese person too- blood sugar normal, cholesterol normal, great blood pressure. I've lost most of my excess fat. What difference does it make now that I have all these extra fat cells?

I really wish I understood all this. Blerg.

Someone else pointed that out, yes. It was autocorrect. I don't think you get to diagnose someone you don't know like this. Who are you to decide whether or not he's serious? It's fucked up to publicly mock him like this.
