Something else i want to comment on: the new 4.0.1 firmware. The bars look stupid. I'm used to them looking a certain way on all the iPhones i've owned over the last few years, and now its different. I don't like change. Regarding the updated methodology for calculating how many bars to show me, i love it. I pull

@scarymike23: That was a really informative article. Thanks for sharing.

0 because the only people i know that also got the iPhone 4 are people at work, and the work firewall blocks it.

@Sukebe: why the j/k at the end. you made a nice comment but then said j/k? what was your actual point then?

To be objective Gizmodo, i think you should take an iPhone original, an iPhone 3g, and iPhone 3gs and an iPhone 4 and do a test. check signal strength on all of them holding the phone cupping the bottom, which just happens to be where the antenna was on the older models, just internal. I've done this with my iPhone

i'm getting sick of hearing all this garbage. everyone i talk to that doesn't have an iphone that was considering one keeps telling me about their incredible inside knowledge "oh i heard that the iphone 4 has a really bad reception problem and you can't make phone calls." shut up people. apple sold over 2 million of

@Rotmm: i am running windows home server on an ex495. thats extremely unfortunate i can't use mkv, i love that server :( thanks for the heads up though. maybe there's some way to run a virtualized windows 7 box on the whs box and get mkv support?

@JakeMertz: Don't forget the fingerprints and retinal scans in addition to a blood/urine test to unlock your phone. Better safe than sorry.

I would very much appreciate some .mkv support. The fact that no consoles have this yet is simply baffling. Having to download all my legal mkv videos and convert them in handbrake to watch on my tv is simply ridiculous.

How come you guys didn't even speculate on what is going to happen? I know you guys had to break the story when you acquired the new iPhone before it was announced and are being punished for it, but do you think you guys will ever be invited to Apple events again? Going to engadget for it really blows. I'd rather

@Drummertist: true the wind would keep spinning. also, if the earth *abruptly* stopped spinning, we'd all be launched at 1000mph as the earth stops and WE keep moving (like a car accident, only a really fast one).

@shadymilkman: by the way, shady milk man is an awesome username.

@shadymilkman: and you're right, look at how explosive android's development has been. apple's been building operating systems for what, 30 years? google has been for 3 years and they've already surpassed apple in some ways.

@DrakeDatsun: i bet the paint would cost more than what my truck is worth. not that it's capable of reading race car speeds anyway :)

@shadymilkman: I don't really see how google would have to compete with other browsers that are on it's own phone. If someone else can make a better one, then that alleviates their responsibility. i do agree that competition usually stimulates creativity.

@shadymilkman: Was the Android platform developed in an open enviroment? Does the programming community have anything to do with the stock browser speed on Android? Correct me if I'm wrong, but I don't think so.

If I paint my Ford Escape like this, will i be invisible to those pesky police radars?

@trs: such is life.
