Has anyone tested to see how much actual bandwidth FaceTime uses over Wifi?
Has anyone tested to see how much actual bandwidth FaceTime uses over Wifi?
@ryoshi: Silly me you're right. I forgot its LIVE video here and it can't be buffered. Very good point.
No suprise. FaceTime was most likely developed to only work over WiFi. When things run of 3G, they use (forget the real name) bandwidth compensating video. Like in Netflix and YouTube, it degrades the quality of the video as the bandwidth available decreases, lowering the stress on the tower and ensuring you still…
@aelhues: I assumed it was the same clock but your prob right and it's underclocked. Still happy as a clam with it :)
Great news! The iPhone 4 has the required specs. When is Apple releasing Mobile Bootcamp?
Love the super stars. You make a good point that people will sit and watch commercials with hot chicks and boobs in them. But does this really sell anything?
I requested an invite, as did probably 19 billion other people. Has anyone that requested an invite got a response yet?
"Fixes that don't include telling you how to hold it." I love the wit of these guys.
2700 degrees? Sounds like they have a problem with global warming. We should send over a Prius or two to help them out.
@trs: I apologize for my outburst before.
@Steven Callas: Apologies. I agree I was out of line and have reviewed the policies. Thanks.
@Andrew Neville: yup i agree that we as consumers that are dropping hundreds of dollars (or thousands, if we count true cost to own) should be able to decide how we use our own hardware. guess we're stuck jailbreaking. i saw another article on here today that shows how to enable multitasking on the 3g. they said…
@Andrew Neville: I understand your point about being able to choose yourself, but that doesn't appear to be how apple operates. With 1.7 million phones sold over 4 days, i bet that a vast majority of them (like my parents) do not even remotely understand all the things being thrown at them. If the 3G gave you the…
@waclark57: also, i'm sure the military doesn't have too many fancy pretty glass tools in the field :)
@waclark57: right that makes sense, i should have specified consumer electronics.
I believe, at Apple, there is some level of discretion on Apple's part. If you bring the phone in all scratched up or cracked, I believe they can deny you a refund. I bought an ipod once, decided i shouldn't have spent the money, and tried to return it. they said they would not accept it as it wasn't in condition…
@TJM-CODE: Would you please tell me what highly sophisticated pieces of equiment that you can drop without expecting them to be damaged?
How much i long for small, OTA updates of the OS instead of a 5 minute download + requiring me to plug into my computer at home + 10 minute install on the iPhone...
@Matt da brat on da wheels of steel: I thought that estimates were attempting to predict the future. Like on the day before the iphone goes on sale, saying "we believe they will sell this much" as opposed to saying "well that was a busy weekend, we think they sold this much"
I find it interesting how Apple makes people think they are being smarter by buying the bigger capacity model. Everyone I've talked to has referenced the need for additional space because of the 720p video recording. I don't think most of those people are going to use it nearly as much as they thought they would.
