Not shocked. Katrina was tragic but isn't as cut and dry to build a narrative around it. The OJ season writers also have nothing to do with future seasons.

Yeah. It's concerning. I genuinely believe he is suffering from mental health issues or traumatic brain injury. He's trying to burn every bridge he has in the comedy community.

Remember how terrible "The Men Who Stare at Goats" was? And how badly it wanted to be a Coen Brothers movie.

This actually looks quite promising.

Roiland actually is Libertarian. He's also very anti-union so just wait for the inevitable AV Club backlash blaming him for Trump being elected.

It's another "AV Club looks for a cultural signifier to blame years of built-up political anger that would have happened regardless" episode.

Futurama got really shitty during its revival years

"The Disenchantment" raised a generation of trolls.

John K is incredibly talented and single-handedly revived creator-driven animation. He just is incredibly full of himself and seems to struggle working with other animators/writers.

Bob Camp was actually the one who tried pitching a revival special to Nick/Viacom and was rejected.

Nick and Disney got a little overzealous in the late 90s/early 2000s releasing a lot of animated series adaptations to theaters after "The Rugrats Movie" made a bunch of money. A lot of those adaptations flopped really hard.

Roiland is Rick and Morty. It's his show more than it is Harmon's. It'd be like South Park without Trey Parker.

That's fair. Harmon just manages to get himself fired from almost every series he's developed. Won't be shocked to see him get kicked off Rick and Morty in the future

I thought Tom Kenny's voice was the most 'off' here but it's likely since he's voiced Spongebob for nearly 20 years

John K has burnt every bridge he had in animation. It's sad because he's obviously very talented but incapable of working with others

True but this series also ended in 1996 before the late 90s boom of Starbucks

Is this a real quote from Rocko? Can't imagine this ever making it past Nick censors these days.

A lot of people thought John K was fired for the content but it was more him being incapable of meeting deadlines and being a huge asshole to his staff as well as Nick execs. So many parallels between him and Dan Harmon personality-wise.

Well John K hasn't had anything going on for over a decade so he's free

Apparently Viacom/Nick nixed a "Ren and Stimpy" TV movie because of how bad "Adult Party Cartoon" was received. Can't argue with them there but find that suspect since Nick continues to merchandise the shit out of the characters.
