Not to buy the script (or you’d be dead right.) It’s a grant to write the script. And that is a fine thing indeed. Being given free money, no strings, to write a script. Then they get to sell the script and keep the rights. It’s nothing but win for the writer. Very rare too.

Giving GRANTS to writers so they can free up time and resources to create original amazing content. Then letting them keep the rights, all the while publicizing their project as the grant recipient. Fucking fantastic!
