Agreed that stores having better margins and lower prices can lead to valve actually making changes. US cellular networks do this, they creep down prices to one-up their competition, forcing the other companies to lower their price as well.

I have a feeling people would be much happier with this if they kept the game on Steam, but also sold it on the Epic store for a cheaper price because of the better % margins. They aren’t forcing anyone to one option, and you will have the people who just want to buy the game for the lower price, ala Epic.

Seems more so a point of retaliation towards the notion of certain stores having sole rights to a PC game, leaving zero ability to let price competition do its thing with other sellers. And having 5+ clients on one system is a pain in the ass, ain’t nobody want that.

Would you have wanted EA to have had no push-back from turning Battlefront 2 into a Pay-to-Win game with lootboxes? Really? Maybe I am completely off but it has been common for games to be on sale somewhere not long after their release.
