Will and Layla couldn't be less interesting. The show has managed to hit GLAAD's diversity radar without actually having to show gay stuff. I suspect they just don't want to have to deal with Will being gay. Totally surprised they didn't kill him off earlier.

The whole show walked a fine line between exploitative and genius and was ultimately determined by the ending. Sadly, the ending pushed everything into the ever-so-popular "this is just about some guys and their bromance arch and less about critiquing systems of masculinity and institutionalized violence" category.
