Man I really hate this change. The characters in this game function a lot more like Fighting Game characters than RPG characters. Having to spend even more time to unlock their full move-list (which is when they start to become actually really exciting and rewarding to play) is such a mistake.

My very first playthrough of FF7 I actually missed her and Vincent out of pure youthful ignorance — but on all subsequently playthroughs they were recruited as soon as they were available
