Bacon is amazing in his supporting role, and Sorkin’s writing for that character is flat fantastic. He’s an excellent prosecutor, sees right through bullshit, but isn’t some one-note zealot and when he sees what’s really gone down doesn’t hesitate to do his job despite the risks.

Yeah. Hate to be a party pooper but this story is missing a vital piece of context, which is what it generally costs to clear any song for this kind of commercial usage. Seriously doubt that $60k is vastly above market average.

You’re right, Harry Shearer should stay out of conversations about who Harry Shearer is allowed to voice.  It’s just not about Harry Shearer.

It doesn’t have a plot. It’s a dance show. It never tried to be anything more than a dance revue of cats singing about themselves. Why is this so hard for adults to grasp when I instantly got it at the age of 10?

I’ve seen it so many times on VHS, with no subtitles, that I have no trouble understanding the dialogue. Right before the pandemic, there were visitors at my work from Dublin or thereabouts, and some people were like, “I can barely understand them, can you?”, and I was like “Yep.”

The only American I can speak for is myself, and I can tell you that I loved the hell out of Bugsy Malone as a kid (also of the Gen-X variety).

Paul Williams is a god! It freaked me out when I saw it and adult voices (mainly his) came out of the kids’ mouths when they started singing. The fact that they used the demos Williams made while on tour becuase they didn’t have enough time to get them re-recorded makes them kick even more ass.
