One more: Trailer Trash by Modest Mouse

So hard to just pick one, so here are some favorites:

Really enjoying Craig Finn's latest. God in Chicago is maybe my favorite song of the year. He's as lyrically sharp as ever and he's seemed to find the right sound for the solo material.

The Verve - Bittersweet Symphony

probably one of the most underrated bands out there - top notch lyrics and hooks, plus they're terrific live. I thought it'd be nearly impossible to top LOSE, but this definitely could surpass it for me after a few more listens. 4th of July is a really great song in particular.

Loved EWBAITE, and as bad as Thank God For Girls is, this song is really nice. Great guitar sound and super catchy. That's all I really ever ask of Weezer these days, and they came through here (and on Do You Wanna Get High?). Cautiously optimistic, event though that tracklist is horrifying.

Smashing Pumpkins - Tonight, Tonight

agree with every word here. top five song of this decade so far.

My Morning Jacket - Wordless Chorus

Ride - Vapour Trail

M83 - Midnight City

The Verve - Bittersweet Symphony

The Darkness - I Believe In A Thing Called Love

Phenomenal picks. Feel like a lot of lists are either forgetting about Viet Cong because it came out early in the year or omitting it because of the name controversy. It's a shame, because it's a really great album.

Great picks. Dimed Out is my easy choice for best song of the year. Incredible lyrics, energy, instrumentation - it really has everything you'd want in rock song. Also big props for the Sheer Mag inclusion. That song is infectious.

They're a great band, and this 7" sounds nice.

Tenement record is solid, but if there's any album this year that deserves the "Zen Arcade Memorial Award," it's the new Titus Andronicus rock opera that comes out next month.

I think The Waterfall is definitely stronger than Circuital, although the latter is pretty underrated and has some great moments (Victory Dance, Wonderful, the title track). The Waterfall is just overall richer, more diverse, and livelier than Circuital.

The first two tracks on Circuital are probably in my top 10 MMJ songs. Victory Dance is one of the best concert openers I've ever seen. Unfortunately, that album is really front-loaded. This one is the exact opposite for me - "Believe" is by far my least favorite song on the album, but after that, it never really lets

This album is terrific - I truly think it's their second best after Z. Little to no filler, and tracks two through four make up one of the best runs in their catalog. This is the best utilization of Jim's voice in a while; I think he really held back on the last two records, but the harmonies and vocal melodies here
