Personally I’d say Dreamcast (which I didn’t buy at launch, as I was a Sony fanboy at the time) or, surprisingly, the PSP (which I did buy at launch).

I dunno, I’d take another look at the Dreamcast launch lineup - it’s generally considered the best console launch line-up of all time both in terms of quantity and quality. There’s definitely some oddities in there but Sonic Adventure, Soul Calibur, and NFL 2K were all top-tier, and Power Stone, House of the Dead 2,

Yeah, I’m not sure if people weren’t actually around at the time or they just don’t remember that era very well, but SSX was INCREDIBLY well received and considered a must-buy for everyone buying the system. And I say that as someone who doesn’t even like it that much, personally (I don’t really care for arcade-style

Agreed. Maybe it’s nostalgia, because this is the only game I got with my PS2 shortly after launch (I didn’t pick it, my mom did, probably because I was a skateboarder and this had “X-Games” in the title), but I remember having a pretty good time with it. It definitely wasn’t even trying to be THPS. As someone who

I don’t understand why they didn’t just make a new Stuntman game with a F+F skin.

It’s weird to me that the discourse has become so dismissive of these games - or more specifically Heavy Rain. As I recall, contemporary reviews of that game were positively glowing, with many mainstream publications calling it an artistic step forward for the entire medium.

It's pronounced like "pier" but with a T on the end. "Purt" is an extremely common mispronunciation.

Yeah, I really enjoyed the first 1/3 or so when he was setting up the mystery, but the rest kind of felt like he had written himself into a corner and needed to stretch to explain the whodunit. (I also didn’t need it to be tied into the Mr. Mercedes books, but that might just be me.)

Yeah, this is just bad reporting and in a more serious/important story could potentially be very dangerous.

To be fair, some of the people behind this channel (no idea if that includes this specific guy or not) have reputations for being incredibly toxic members of the Silent Hill fan community, so they (or at least their colleagues) could stand to learn that lesson as well.

I was really hoping that the lineup for this would supplement the Neo Geo Mini rather than duplicate it, since the fact that this can be used as a controller for the Mini is advertised as a major selling point, but at a glance there are maybe 3 games on here that aren’t already on the Mini. And it’s not a diverse

Yeah, there are sockets on the bottom where you can plug in either another one of these fight sticks or one of the Neo Geo Mini control pads for a second player.

The initial press release only mentioned PC (and the Neo Geo Mini), so I wouldn’t count on it being PS4 compatible.

Depending on price I’ll probably get one just to use on my Neo Geo Mini, but I’m also interested to see what games they include. I would hope that they would purposefully avoid double dipping on the game selection, but I’m sure it will mostly be games that already appeared on the Mini.

I guess you could read it as they just did a bad job navigating, but I always understood the “that’s the same log” scene to be a pretty overt indicator that there was some kind of witchy magic keeping them trapped in the forest. If I remember correctly, they actually did follow a stream at that point, only to find

Haven’t played it yet, obviously, but from what I’ve seen this one continues the trend of dumbing down the RPG mechanics. Each character has only four abilities, that unlock at certain levels, though I believe you can dump ability points into whichever of the four you want to improve them. Nowhere near the

On the plus side, at least this one wasn’t ALSO written by Chris Kohler.

As someone who loves the idea of fighting games but is usually trash at them, my experience with Samurai Shodown so far has been that it is DEFINITELY a great fit for like-minded people. The reduction of intricate combos, the smaller character command lists, and the slower pace make this much easier to get into.

Yeah, it always encourages experimentation and can be a lot of fun to farm/max out the various souls, if that's your thing. I think Order of Ecclesia took it a little too far by taking out weapons entirely in favor of the glyph system, so I'm glad that Bloodstained is circling back to a more Sorrow-inspired system.
