Rpgs have great music all around, I agree. Also, a game series that people don’t talk about for the music is Resident Evil. The save room track is usually a soothing, sometimes melancholic piano piece that tells the player “outside is hell on earth, but here you can take a breather”.

Was just revisiting the Riven soundtrack a few days ago. The ambient score for that game is so perfect at building the atmosphere in that game.

I read the first few paragraphs before it seemed to be abundantly clear that you have an axe to grind with this type of game and should not be the one reviewing it.  I stopped reading there. 

I could be standing in a bucket of Deet, carrying a burning tire in a snowmobile suit soaked in citronella and they will still attack me in droves, my wife could be beside me naked and nothing. And if I get bitten I get huge welts that itch uncontrollably- my wife nope a little bump and maybe one scratch

Throw on some Castrol stickers and a dozen fog lights on the front and you’ve got my attention:

Alundra all the way. I think it was the last great 2d action rpg. Great story, combat, and art.

Can’t wait to play it next year on my Xbox One 2.

This is why I enjoy living just outside of a major city with 30 min train service available to get into the city. I enjoy the best of both worlds. Get into the city for great restaurants/culture/sports and get out to where I have room to move/breathe, a driveway for my 3 cars, a yard for my kid to play in and a house…
