oh, nuts to this then *plays Wii U*

That's a HUGE freaking difference. The Xbox One REQUIRES you to sign in everday. So a publisher could prevent you from playing even a single player game without paying.

It's not different at all. They were specifically talking about 1st party games. What he's saying is exactly how it is now. The XB1 on the other hand ceases to function without an Internet connection.

They can't really force publishers to abandon online passes. Needless to say I doubt a lot of publishers will try to lock up their games due to backlash from the community.

Well, no. They said they weren't changing anything with the DRM.
Even now you get idiot companies like EA with their codex to unlock content one time, and other bullshit like that.

Sony can't promise that publishers won't keep trying to do that type of stuff. That's essentially beyond their control.

I'm curious how this plays out with EA titles. EA was a clear front runner with the Project $10 program. Then, they announce the end of the program, at pretty much the exact same time as it becomes clear that Microsoft is not allowing used games. So the belief was that Sony was following a similar path.

And just like that, all of the goodwill from yesterday's "nuke" vanishes.

So how is this different from Xbox One now? I gotta admit I feel like they completely lied to us. Yeah the online requirement isn't there but the fact that they have the ability to do this at all is extremely misleading to what we were told last night.

And they still haven't talked much about their exclusives. If they got any. But to be honest, I DON'T care for them that much. I just want a console that does the job, multiplatform has more than enough stuff I can enjoy.

You mean Final Fantasy XV2Part1: The Last Guardian, right?

The prototype original XBox controller.

Come on EVAN! HE JUST SAID DRM IS UP TO 3RD PARTIES ON PS4

I smell a crossover...

Is anyone at all surprised by this news at this point?

Dammit Kotaku. I'm a Nintendo Girl and a Dog Person. This is cruel on me.
