Not technically, but Microsoft has a policy that wont let a game release on the Xbox One if it released on a competing console first. So it is effectively exclusive.

Not likely Xbox because of their policy of not letting a game release on the Xbox if it released on a competitors console first.
PS4 and PC, not likely Xbox One because of a Microsoft policy.

Its not multiplatform unless you are counting PC. Microsoft has a policy that wont let a game release on the Xbox One if it released on a competing console first.

This is important. 10% attach rate on 6 million is a lot less than 10% on 12 million, or 20 million. Since a game makes almost all of its money in the first 6 months, its important to get the timing right.
Games don't really sell consoles as much as you think. I buy a console because of the company that makes it, because of the hardware capabilities, because of its additional features, because of the history of the platform holder and their vision. Most people have already made up their mind what console they want…
The sales momentum is not though. In 6 months time (the amount of time a game delivers the majority of its income) the Xbox and PS4 will have left the WiiU even further behind, also since the PS4 and Xbox One are almost the same hardware, developing for one, nets you the other practically free (its a BOGO!). Also…
It has a smaller install base by itself, but a much higher sales momentum and project sales. Also, developing for the Xbox One nets you the PS4 as well, over doubling your sales. Also also, there are many games NOT coming to the Xbox One or PS4 (instead 360 and PS3) because of this.
Thats only true if the reason its not selling is lack of games. The reasons I wont buy one, and others I know wont buy one, has _nothing_ to do with games and everything to do with the controller and the physical looks of the console. No amount of game sales is going to change that.
You honestly think that 100% of the WiiU owners are going to buy the game? Great attach rates fall in about 10%. Even Mario Kart, one of the biggest sellers for Nintendo, averages a 20% attach rate. So, no 6 million is not low sales, but 600k is.
What? The PS4 has outsold the WiiU and the Xbox One is very near it (and with current sales numbers, both will leave it in the dust quite soon), and both of those have been out for less than half the time that the WiiU has.
It actually does work that way with the Vita. As a second screen can do everything that the gamepad can do and more. Its less useful with the companion app because you dont have a built in controller with physical buttons like the gamepad does, but with the Vita, you do.
They make most of their money in the first six months of release. Lets say the game is amazing and has a 10% attach rate, which is pretty impressive (one of the most loved games on a Nintendo platform, Mario Kart, has an average 20% attach rate for example). Would you rather release your game to 6 million users and…
If the WiiU released without the gamepad, they could knock a serious percentage of the price off, and even compete directly with the PS3/360 sales. Not to mention, millions more people (like me) are more likely to buy it without the gamepad.
Firstly, there are many, many, games that are not coming to the Xbox One and PS4 because of this. They are sticking with the 360 and PS3. The new Borderlands, one of the upcoming Assassins Creeds, etc...
You make the most sales in your first six months of release. If they were to release now, with such a small user base, they would get much fewer sales than if they released later with a larger user base. Its partially a chicken and egg scenario, if you are of the opinion that the reason people don't buy a WiiU is…
I strongly disagree. You may be able to hook up multiple controllers to your PC hooked up to your TV but that doesn't magically make the games do local co-op. Games like Diablo 3 for example. Not many PC games are set up to play local (as in one machine) co-op. Its not a limitation of PC hardware, instead its a…
This is why I choose the PS ecosystem because its community is not as FPS focused and games like this would be instant hits rather than under appreciated. I see what Microsoft is trying to do, they are trying to break out of the bro-shooter type cast, but it will take a lot more than this to do it.
