If it’s all about torque, do NOT use the BRZ engine. Its 151 lb-ft is no better than the Crosstrek’s stock motor. The WRX version, on the other hand, would be perfect. Also highly appropriate that a Crosstrek set up for off-road would have a rally car engine.
