I would say that in your case, the most efficient solution would be to transcode your source video to an off-line format (like prores LT) and reconnect to that media. Then when you’re ready for finishing, reconnect to the source video and take it from there.

Every single person I work with signs every email with their cell number. It’s real.

This is why the american economy is moving in herds to service. Small retailers (like you, I assume) have to rely on value-added. It’s very difficult to achieve.
