There's always an underlying intelligence/commentary to Samberg's comedy. The moment I realized what he was doing in his work, I really came to admire him for it.

Boyzone was the shit to me back in like 1998. Not even ashamed. Irish boybands were all the rage then

TAKE OUT YOUR DIIIIIIICK

The weird part for me is how quickly they're solved. I get why, sort of, but it's still like, this only took you a day tops to resolve? okayyy.

Good Lord, Jake's excitement was contagious. I couldn't even blame him. I don't know how Holt held back that long.

This is great. Completely agree. I believe the nuances of the character gets lost in the clownish behavior to a lot of people.

He mentions his mom, but only in the context you already mentioned, which is that she always worked and he and Gina were basically raised by themselves/his grandmother. I do think his lack of a father figure and growing up with only women is why he tends to overly idolize certain men but have a seemingly surprising

B99, as much as I want to root for it 100 percent, has fallen into the will-they/won't they trap. Been thinking about that, the sad-Jake thing. I half-love it, but it's something I didn't even feel they needed to do. I'm still of the mind that by the finale of last season they had already course-corrected with Jake (I'm also still of the mind that if someone didn't like Jake by then they were possibly never going

Other obvious canons: Jake loves Latinas.

True, I'll just live in blissful ignorance.

This is an episode with an undercurrent of sadness played for laughs for the most part (until the end)
There's been a lot of that this season (and I guess the last few eps of s1) where Jake is concerned. It's been… interesting seeing him oscillate between over-the-top wackiness & self-pitying misery.

Saw it, loved it so much. And the comment about Samberg (http://www.reddit.com/r/IAm… aligns with what I've heard Mike & Dan say about him re: making sure everyone gets a chance to shine.
