I think it's a little of column A, little of column B. The prostitute theme was a deflection technique, but at the same time there are songs on the album ("Paralytic States" particularly) that are definitely evocative of the original concept.

Welcome to the club! You picked a good point to hop on, they're really at the top of their game. It's obvious both on this record and in the live shows that Laura's transition has been (understandably) incredibly freeing for her, both personally and creatively.
This is doubly true of punk albums. I'd listen to a 3 hour Tool opus, but punk is all about hitting hard and fast. That said, I hope to god they release a B-side album for this like they did for New Wave and White Crosses. I bet there are loads of gems that just didn't fit the flow of the record.
I didn't feel it was a fuck you to old fans as much as it was her reflecting on her past and seeing the folly of that kind of absolutism. She acknowledges the legitimacy of those youthful rebellions and the need to reject authority, but in hindsight the flaws of that movement are much more apparent. I see the song…
I did, but I can see why one wouldn't and I don't think it's a huge deal.
Absolutely AMAZING album. Raw, emotional, and brutally honest. It tackles themes of identity and self-realization in a way that's at once specific to the transgender experience and also universal. That being said, it shows a complex understanding of trans issues; it's empathetic without being pandering,…
From what I'm reading in the comments, things are leaning in the direction of it being a preview. I'm gonna still hold out a little hope that it IS Archer Vice, but Archer Vice is nothing at all like what Archer fantasizes.
Yeah the last two seasons were so daring and awesome. And while the shift in timelines in season 4 was a huge deal, it was all character-based, and the basic premise of the show was the same. Season 5 is a lot more like this, where the characters are the same people but the entire setting and premise was completely…
Frisky Dingo, Adam Reed's previous show, did this for season 2, where the former superhero/villain characters both ran for president for nebulous reasons. And it was also one of the funniest seasons of television ever made.
Yeah it had a very Frisky Dingo vibe tonight, which I'm always okay with. And season 2 was also the far and away superior season in part due to the change of premise so I have total confidence in Reed about this.
"Hey! Who the hell are you?"
I FREAKIN LOVE CHINATOWN!
I feel like I'm in the minority on this, but (having not heard anything else about future episodes of the series) I don't think the "trailer" at the end was foreshadowing future events at all. It's 100% possible that I'm wrong, but my thoughts on the montage were first that it was a "recap" of a season that never…
I've also been away from the comments for awhile, and I've got to say I'm getting a kick out of this strange brand of troll. So earnest!
Dean Stockwell has always been cool. Dean Stockwell will always be cool. Dean Stockwell IS COOLNESS ITSELF.
I enjoyed reading it a great deal. But I really like wasting time.
To each their own. I never got a "truth is in the middle" message out of it but like I said, it's not for everyone.
If you were a citrus farmer with a dessicated fruit, you could say "MY LIME IS DRY."
Calculating, manipulative, detatched, alien…
Yeah that was what really got me. Don't think it's number one? Fine. But it doesn't even rate a mention? That seems ridiculous.
