It can be a positive and necessary thing while still being against the nature of the worldwide event in the first place. I think the movie threads that line beautifully.

And I don’t know where you’re getting “basically concludes he’s ‘earned it...’.” He asks his wife, in a manner that shows he has no confidence in an affirmative answer, if he has indeed achieved…

Yeah, I don’t understand people complaining about “Earn this.” Moment works and hits like a hammer, IMO.

I think there’s real heart in Lebowski - his relationship with Walter and Donny, the budding friendship/whatever that develops with Maude - but it is hidden under the constant absurdity.

It is a truly great film, though, and a top 10 placement is definitely deserved.
