@ithyphallus, bonks morrigan: Really, there was the beginning, and then 2 filler campaign planets that like to tease and give you nothing. Then there was the really awesome planet that actually explained everything and felt like a movie. Then the ending. If you spend an hour on each portion and did nothing else, you

Except that by definition video games are interactive. All he's doing is creating a "proper" video game, without the budget and time restraints that stop most developers from creating a truly non-linear game.

Obvious answer: The developers were on vacation somewhere, spending money like they're Bill Gates, and they simply payed someone who took a basic programming course a ton of money to push out a fix to the Javelin Exploit so they wouldn't have to fly back out to their little paradise.

@Trystero: I've just always been a fan of "what if" scenarios. If this game can allow me to not invade Russia, or make the level extremely difficult, but still allow me to win, it would certainly make the prospect a lot more exciting.

@Drogmir: If a game is meant to be interactive, does that mean this game will allow me the option to NOT invade Russia during the winter?

We don't want NO elevators. The idea behind them is fine. Transition without disrupting gameplay. The problem was that the execution sucked. The PC apparently fixed this problem by getting help with transitional loading screens from someone else...really that's all we want on the console too is shorted elevators.

@MaximumPayne: Is this the Hellgate that leads to the others?

I want to be the first kid on my block to get a confirmed kill...OF A GIANTORTOISE!!!

Part of me what's to get this, since I've heard good things and it looks like a legitimate piece of gaming history.

I think I recall playing Tropico 2. Or maybe it was 1. Not entirely sure. I forgot how far I got, but it was thoroughly enjoyable. I'd consider picking up Tropico 3 if I didn't already have a small list of games I want, very little money, and almost no time to play it, especially after factoring in the other games.

@Yerzriknot: And then we'll be whining about how slow Windows 7 is, how unsecured it is, and how all the hacks we've installed to get some newer programs running is starting to wear your computer down. From there you'll go into feature comparisons with the latest small upgrade from Apple, because the equivalent of a

I get it, rocks are expensive. Moon rocks even more so.

@jakemg: My understanding, from some of the previous articles, was that LCD is a a technology that is defined primarily by whatever bells and whistles come with it. There's one article either here on Gizmodo or over on Lifehacker about getting the best LCD for the price, and one line states that cheaper LCDs can

I know someone who does tech work for a hotel, and they have a property management system that not only has bugs when using other browsers, but they have them in a contract to not install other browsers on their computers. Unfortunately, they are about 6 years behind everyone else, have an interface that looks like it

So by changing a bunch of numbers...you determine one type of group is similar to another.

VOTE: Microsoft Word 2007

@NewSpecies: But for an MMO to be not just surviving but thriving after 5 years is a big deal. That's more than double how long most MMOs go before completely "jumping the shark" and ruining the game. Ever since Ultima Online, this trend has continued. Another astounding coincedence is that the second expansion pack

I finally look at another MMO and the first class since the initial 4 I'm attracted to is KotOR's version of WoW's mage.

The twists were overdone. Infinity Ward did an excellent job of subverting expectations by taking what you expect and twisting it. But when this happens every 10 minutes, it gets old, quick. Plot twists stop being so twisty if you know they're coming. Only the big one near the end took me by surprise, but that was

@Titch007uk: I based a lot of my point on the purchase of the item because that's what a product is out to do, make money. I feel the investment into redoing the art would pay off, since even some hardcore fans who've beaten every game may repurchase it for high resolution artwork.
