Also possible. Depends on the gun. For something like a Glock, there is no external safety other than “Gun should not go off without a direct trigger pull” (called a trigger safety). For others the safety is literal button/switch that should be engaged at all times when the gun is not in use.

Most modern guns have safety features that prevent the gun from going off without a trigger pull, so here’s a couple possibilities that I can think of:
