ah, I disagree. I like most of those bits. Sometimes better than others obviously.

I can understand not liking his smugness, doesn't bother me personally - but that's a reasonable thing to be aggravated about.

Fundamentalist Christians suck too. Bill Maher talks about them often. I've heard him go off on them many more times than I've heard him talk about fundamentalist Muslims. We should - as liberals - be able to equally join him on both fronts. Why is it OK for Muslims to be anti-woman / anti-gay?

I think that's nonsense. Maher has met plenty of Muslims. They've been on the show. He's all about moderate Muslims, we need more of them just as need more moderate Christians. Religion is fine and dandy - any religion - unless you use it as excuse for a backwards ideology.

Things don't change overnight. These battles have been going on forever and will continue. I don't know if trying to censor right wingers is the way to beat them though. And at this point it's a lost cause. They control the entire federal gov't.

I'm with Bill Maher. When in doubt we should always side with free speech. And we shouldn't allow religion to be an excuse for backwards oppressive ideology.
