The bar is getting a little lighter I think. On Gmail, the bar is a lighter gray with white text and on Google+ its a darker gray (almost black) with a gray text. Maybe they're trying to comply with the W3C accessibility regulations since I've heard others complaining about that.

I'm not a huge fan of it either because it's such an enormous clash with the Google colors, but the thing is, when they made it a shiny white bar, people didn't even notice that it changed. By making it black, it'll make people curious to see what's going on.

@USB_Humping_Dog: While I love HTC's phones, I think the Sense UI is the devil's advocate. More so because the carriers come and take a big shit on all the features available within Android if it's not a "Google Phone".
