I think laws currently require a human behind the wheel? That is something shipping companies and car-makers will probably lobby to change. Uber wants to get rid of its drivers, too, so there will be pressure on politicians to allow self-driving vehicles of all sorts on the road.

Instead of investing in driverless cars why not invest in driver training. Everyone on the road should go through something similar to commercial driver training.
